Illinois Central 4-8-2 No. 2500, the first of 56 such locomotives. Rebuilt at Paducah in 1937 from No. 2953, a Lima 2-10-2. Engine bed one piece cast steel, 30x30 Cyls. 70 drivers, 240 lb. steam pressure, 83,500 lb. tractive effort. Weight empty 450,000 lbs. Ready to run, 635,000 lbs.

 

By the time the 2500 was retired, she had run over 1,000,000 miles for the IC.
